India, Bangladesh relations have emerged as a role model of the bilateral relationship in the context of India's relations with its neighbours. The present bilateral status is precisely in tandem with the vision of 'Bangabandhu' Mujibur Rehman held 50 years back when he spoke of enduring and eternal ties between the two countries (otut ar okhoy) in his first visit to Calcutta in February 1972 after taking oath as the Prime Minister of newly liberated Bangladesh.
